The 2009 Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc is made from fruit from three vineyards: Comely Bank, Griggs and Race Track. Comely Bank is situated in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley and covers 90 acres of land of old river bed soils that lie in a local rain shadow. The conditions found here contribute strongly to the intense and quintessentially “Marlborough” characters that the fruit from this vineyard displays. The Griggs vineyard is situated on the old river bed of the Taylor River that flows from the southern hills through the township of Blenheim. The vineyard is close to the town at the base of the hills, and produces fruit that typically exhibits big tropical characters. Race Track vineyard is west of the town of Blenheim. The heavy clay soils contribute the herbal aromas found in Chasing Venus.
